I met Thomas Ritz at the Civil War Reenactment at 4386 US Rte 11, Cortland/ Homer, NY.

 

Thomas is a violinist from Apalachin, NY and a high school student. He almost gave up on the violin while studying the classics. Then he became interested in the Civil War and Celtic music.

I heard him playing Ashokan Farewell well known to me from the bittersweet sound track of the Ken Burns PBS Civil War series. It is a Civil War song with old Irish roots.

Thomas is a Christian and plans to go to theological school after High School to pursue his faith. Thank you for your permission to publish this piece and may God bless you and keep you.
